All About Her (Sinag Maynila 2026)

Directed by: Joel Lamangan

Perhaps, on paper, the story has the potential to be somewhat exciting. But in its final form, the movie lacks whatever is needed to make you feel anything at all.

Most of the ensemble isn’t reliable—both in performance and in the way they tell their stories. It feels like listening to someone read a book without any hint of emotion. The characters move like puppets, blindly following what’s written on the script. Their performances are just lifeless.

Even the extras maintain the same kind of performance, delivering lines with a blank expression.

Tony Labrusca seems distant from the role and barely commits to it. Yuki Sonoda, Marco Gomez, and Itan Rosales offer nothing to elevate the film, matching its dull energy. Angelica Cervantes is neither good nor bad.

This role is just a walk in the park for Jim Pebanco. He needs a more challenging role next time, as most of his characters don’t seem to test his true range as an actor. Kelley Day speaks eloquently in her interview segments but lacks energy in her voiceovers. Nonetheless, she shows effort to give a decent acting performance.

Two beauty queens clash, but the missing pageant atmosphere takes away their glitter and glamour. The absence of meaningful character development turns the conflict into something cheap and petty.

A significant portion of the film unfolds through a series of flashbacks, and the random transition effects don’t help in connecting the scenes together.

Most of the time, they tend to explain what’s already happening on screen, making it look like a staged reenactment instead of organic storytelling. With the overwhelming narration you hear, what you see becomes secondary. It could easily pass for a radio program.

Even though you already know where it is heading, the film manages to stretch the revelation scene for as long as it can. Not only is it dragging, but it’s also anticlimactic.

For what it’s worth, there is at least a story to follow. It’s all about her. But unfortunately, there’s also nothing about her that makes the journey worth following. Actually, none of the characters are.
