D’ Ninang (2020)
Directed by: GB Sampedro
Ai-Ai delas Alas is an infamous thief unbeknownst to her daughter who is an aspiring lawyer.
This movie had an interesting main conflict — which remains to be a conflict until the end. They didn’t even try to solve it in the first place. Walang hakbang para matugunan ang problemang yun.
Hindi napag-planuhan. Hindi na-solusyonan.
Tapos bigla nalang nagkapatawaran.
This movie had a secondary conflict too — A Mother’s Love between two daughters, one by blood and one by choice. — which also remains to be a conflict until the end. They didn’t even try to solve it in the first place. Pinag-away lang ang dalawang magkapatid.
Nagka-iringan. Nagkasagutan.
Naging intense drama.
Yung exchange of punchlines, napunta sa exchange of punches. The abrupt switching of tone is hard to watch.
Ano bang emosyon at leksyon ang gusto nilang iparating talaga?
To begin with, I don’t have high expectations for this movie. I just wanted to laugh and feel good.
All bad things must come to an end. And there’s no easier way to escape all unresolved problems than to end it with a happy-ending narration and montage.
Voila. They all lived happily ever after.
Problem solved. Case closed.
