Home Service (Vivamax 2023) Directed by: Ma-an Asuncion-Dagñalan
A female working student is offering body massage via home service to people.
The story is not about working students nor the massage nor the home service.
The movie doesn’t have a main topic to begin with. They don’t know what to focus on. They are more concerned with the plot twists that weren’t even impactful.
They would just randomly insert socio-economic issues even if unnatural to the flow of conversation. The issues are abruptly mentioned and widely scattered throughout the movie, failing to form a cohesive message.
The ending is all over the place, showing more and more things they wanted to tell until the last few minutes.
The sex scenes are long and boring; they’re done with no class. There were some shower scenes that contributed no value to the story. It could have been an opportunity to show how crucial it is for the character to have a smooth skin for her job. But it was not used that way. It only exposes her body even further.
The cinematography and the shots are not enticing. The color grading and editing are pale. There’s a scene when they just put a shining shimmering sparkle to hide some private parts. It’s a magic show all of a sudden.
The actors and the bit players are not good. Their acting are not to be taken seriously. They’re not given time to share more about their characters, leaving you apathetic to their whole journey.
𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 is a disservice to working students and massage therapists.
It leaves you feeling unsatisfied. Not the kind of service you expect from a movie.
