Ikaw Lang Ang Mahal (2022)
Directed by: Richard Somes
Love… Arts… Culture…
and conflicts in between.
May kabuluhan.
May angking ganda.
May gustong patunayan ang pelikula.
Ngunit makalat ang kwento.
At pilit ang istorya.
Maganda ang mga paintings,
ngunit anong istorya sa likod nito?
May kabuluhan ang mga tula,
pero saan nanggaling ang mga salita?
The art metaphors, the poems and the paintings are there for lavish display. The lines are thought-provoking, but most of them were uttered with no context. The characters don’t have a justifiable build-up. Most of them rant out of nowhere.
As an aspiring director, Cara Gonzales’ actions are not making sense. As a striving filmmaker, Zanjoe lacks the enthusiasm towards his craft. As a successful author, Kylie Verzosa has a believable stance when she’s explaining things.
Naipakilala nila nang maayos ang mga trabaho ng bawat karakter, ngunit hanggang duon lang.
The cinematography is praiseworthy.
It did justice to the beauty of Sagada.
It transports you to a higher realm.
The movie had a promising concept about love, arts and culture. But it was all over the place.
Even the movie title “Ikaw Lang Ang Mahal” is out of place.
