Lolo and the Kid (2024)
Written & Directed by: Benedict Mique
Joel Torre, Euwenn Mikaell and Juan Karlos gave heartwarming performances. JK’s rendition of the song “Through The Years” is a perfect match to the ending scenes. But tears are not enough to be blinded by their blatant wrongdoings.
Emotionally manipulative, this movie loves to make you cry—always at the expense of other people.
It’s also uncomfortable to see an 11-year-old boy cursing in front of a camera—for the sake of filming it. Even if the boy got reprimanded, it still doesn’t sit right.
As much as you want to feel sorry for the lolo, his character arc is ruined until the very end. To the kid, you deserve better. The story needs better redemption and accountability.
Instead of the Lolo and the Kid, the people who were taken advantage of are more deserving of our tears and affection.
