Si Mang Jose ay isang superhero na pwedeng arkilahin. Tutulungan ka ngunit pagkatapos ay bigla kang sisingilin.
Sinong mag-aakala na ang kanta nuon ng Parokya Ni Edgar ay magiging isang live-action superhero movie na ngayon?
Kwela ang kanta. Ngunit hindi ito nasabayan ng pelikula. Astig ang superhero. Pero hindi ito gaanong nailarawan at nakwento.
Bitin sa action. Kulang sa fantasy.
Hindi masyadong patok ang comedy.
There were several punchlines in a row, but they’re mostly a miss than a hit. The action scenes fail to maximize the power of the superhero and the villains. Most characters just come and go. The storytelling lacks creativity and imagination.
When the superhero takes off his mask, that’s when things get better.
Nung naging simpleng tao na lamang sila, duon mas nagkaroon ng buhay ang mga eksena. Duon mo makikilala ang katauhan nila… Na mas maganda pa pala kaysa sa kapangyarihan nila.
Nakakadala ang sagutan nila Mikoy Morales at Janno Gibbs. Sakto ang dramahan nila para maniwala ka sa pinaglalaban nila.
Matino ang istorya. Hindi sila naligaw ng landas. Tuloy-tuloy ang kanilang pag-kwento. Hanggang mabigay nila ang gusto nilang mensahe.
Malinis ang editing. Maganda ang costume. Maayos ang kabuuang hitsura ng pelikula. Disente ang pagkakagawa.
With all the substandard movies that Vivamax has been releasing lately, Mang Jose came at the right time—being the first and only local superhero film this year.
Even though the approach was typical and familiar, this movie is already a breath of fresh air today.
It’s not action-packed.
It’s not story-heavy.
But it’s a movie of our own that tries to be relevant with its Filipino family theme and values.
For those reasons, try to rent Mang Jose on your Vivamax streaming devices. Dahil sa kabila ng lahat… si Mang Jose ay isang superhero na pwede mong arkilahin.
