MY SASSY GIRL

My Sassy Girl (2024)

Junjee is in love with Sheena even if the latter is always angry and demanding. It’s hard to believe the presence of love when the character being put on pedestal has no lovable and redeeming qualities. Junjee’s consistent narration throughout the film somehow helped to make things more sensible.

Their interest in music, nursing, writing, plants, and arnis are just part of the props and scenes; they are not being used to better understand each other’s lifestyle. Their conversations are mostly repetitive, just for fun, and on a surface level. There are other people in the story that seem important but weren’t given enough scenes. The crucial role of a parent and the earnest advice of a friend are missing.

Filipino humor is present in the movie. There are skits that would make you laugh because of the way they were executed.

𝘔𝘺 𝘚𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘺 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭 may not be that romantic and sassy, but it has enough comedy, drama and heart to consider it a decent film.
