Deadpool and Wolverine (2024)
Directed by: Shawn Levy
This film is an automatic must-watch if you grew up with X-Men or Marvel movies. It has a lot of cameo appearances, and you’re not prepared for who you are about to see. Some of them are applaudable and nostalgic.
Wolverine is already a legacy even without this film; however, his reappearance added more 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳 to his character. Expectedly, most jokes would come from Deadpool. A few of his mockeries are relieving to hear, but he is at his best when he’s not trying to be funny.
It’s refreshing to see when other characters are making fun of themselves. Rob Delaney’s charm is at peak. Leslie Uggams is effortless. Matthew Macfayden is effective being irritating, while Emma Corin is not an effective villain.
Surrounded by too many other cameos and gimmicks, some actors are underutilized—offering only a few seconds of entertainment.
In terms of fan service, it is definitely present from start to end. But in terms of story, it has nothing much to offer. The movie is being stretched for too long without anything significant happening. They tend to focus more on who’s the next cameo than what’s next in the story. The ending also failed to build excitement and anticipation for what’s about to come.
The soundtrack helps to keep you entertained. Being one of the movie’s highlights, Madonna’s Like A Prayer was put into good use. NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye was cute because of the editing and the action sequence. Avril Lavigne’s I’m With You was abruptly inserted. The Greatest Show had a brief yet memorable moment. Out of all the songs, Green Day’s Good Riddance was the most impactful because of the perfectly imperfect scenes attached to it.
Thank you 20th Century Fox for making Wolverine and Deadpool engraved in our lives. Thank you Disney for making a lot of people’s dreams come true by bringing them together.
The past set of movies had some mistakes that we hate, but it also had some triumphs that we love. It’s a love and hate relationship we’re grateful to have experienced.
Wounds may remind us of the pain it has caused, but scars remind us of a journey that’s worthwhile. Together, 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘱𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘞𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘦 lends their superpowers to us so that we can heal. What remains are happy and beautiful memories that won’t be erased for quite some time.

CLUES on some of the cameos:
(not in any particular order)
Cameo 1: Having played a famous superhero before, this actor is the most fit to be the new Wolverine.
Cameo 2: There are too many actors that go by this first name, but he is on top of everyone’s mind when someone says this first name. Why? Maybe because he is hot—literally and figuratively.
Cameo 3: Her first name rhymes with her last name. The surname of her character name sounds like a dish.
Cameo 4: This actor / superhero had a film trilogy and Ryan Reynolds was part of the third movie.
Cameo 5: This actor had a film trilogy wherein he likes to dance and show some skin.
