Digger (2026)

Directed by: Alejandro G. Iñárritu

Ever since I was a kid, it’s been in my blood to watch TV shows for entertainment. As I got older, I fell in love with cinema as a form of escape. When I started working, I became drawn to theater and the immersive experience it offers.

My watching habits are mostly driven by selfish reasons. I pay for the ticket, so naturally, I want something in return.

This film ticks all the boxes — giving me entertainment, escape, and experience. The ensemble is very committed. All of its technical elements are out of this world.

I have more than enough reasons to love it.

But 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘳 is larger than me and my own feelings.

What makes the film truly outstanding is how it sees art as a necessity. It’s more than just a consumable product. It plays a greater role in shaping ourselves and our world. We need it in order to live.

It doesn’t matter whether or not I agree with everything the film says. Never mind if we have opposing points of view. Call it satire, black comedy, twisted history. At the end of the day, we bring our own interpretations to it until we find our own pleasure and satisfaction.

The film sees its audience not merely as moviegoers, but as people trying to find their way through this cruel life.

All these thoughts may have long been buried somewhere inside me after decades of watching all sorts of movies, plays, and shows. Maybe I just needed a reminder as to why they exist in the first place — and this film didn’t just remind me, it gave me an awakening.

𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘳 digs deep into the higher purpose of cinema and brings it to the surface splendidly. What a privilege to be alive and witness a masterpiece like this. Whatever it’s giving me, I’m here to live through it.

Excuse me if this gets too personal, but perhaps that’s what also makes it universal. Regardless, this is how I want to remember 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘳.

Of all the films I have yet to see,

I wish more of them could dig this deep

and reach inside of me.
