Good Boy (2025)
Directed by: Ben Leonberg

Rated PG, this film might not be suitable for kids due to its dark theme. But for sure, anyone can empathize with the dog named Indy as the lead character.
He is instantly established as a good boy, following instructions and behaving properly. Since his routine is mostly routinary and mundane, it’s easy to get bored with it. Just when you’re about to lose interest, the film teases you with something more.
A lot of visions are popping, thinking which ones are true. As mud turns to blood, the line between reality and fantasy blurs. But the dog’s perspective reigns.
With unsettling visuals and scoring, the film takes you into a dimension that’s susceptible to fear and terror. You’re gradually being immersed into his world. Once you’re inside, it can get scary and traumatizing.
The presence of monsters and ghosts initially does the trick. But the real horror lies with the dog’s normalization of a grim and gloomy environment, accepting it as part of his life.
Choosing between light and darkness shouldn’t be hard. But when the dog considers it as a dilemma, it’s just heartbreaking. Given his journey, the ending offers a well-deserved conclusion. The credits scene paints a beautiful picture and works best for a good boy like Indy.
