Habang Nilalamon ng Hydra ang Kasaysayan (Cinemalaya 2025)
Written & Directed by: Dustin Celestino

The film starts with a black screen and ends with a white screen. Everything in between falls into gray areas. You can’t summarize it with just one color. It’s more nuanced than that.
As complex as the characters, the story has many layers that you don’t initially see as you’re blinded by emotions. When things don’t go your way, it’s easy to get mad. But instead of dwelling on that feeling, the film lingers on the larger scheme of things.
It’s not fixated on pinpointing who’s good or evil anymore. Characters are acknowledged as fellow human beings. By transforming hatred into compassion, the film elevates the narrative and takes the high road.
Rightfully starring in a film that’s heavy on dialogues, Mylene Dizon owns every word she says. Whether you’ve experienced it or not, she’ll make you feel it. Jojit Lorenzo’s sincerity in delivering lines has the ability to make lemonades out of lemons. Dolly De Leon gives life to complicated emotions. Most of the time, Zanjoe Marudo’s delivery feels like he’s reading from a script. However, this is not just a script.
Words have weight. They can shape the future, just as they can mold the past and present. Aside from words, the musical scoring has the power to ease and awaken one’s soul. Whatever you hear can affect your emotions and your actions.
Hope and compassion seem hard to find nowadays, but this film gradually leads us to find our light.
Nagsimula ang pelikula sa dilim. Napunta sa liwanag.
Mula sa 𝘯𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯, tayo rin ay makaka-𝘢𝘩𝘰𝘯.
