One Battle After Another (2025)

Written & Directed by: Paul Thomas Anderson

Some feel powerful when they’re holding a gun. But without it, they’re speechless. The voices are coming from gunshots and not from their own.

The film doesn’t know what it wants to say. To cover that up, they’d show people running and cars chasing. It’s a good temporary distraction for a poorly written script.

Filled with empty words, the conversations are lacking depth. The lines involving codes and passwords drag on for too long. Removing most of the dialogues won’t hurt the storyline (if there’s any).

No matter how good the actors are, they couldn’t save the movie. It seems like the villain is just there to make the leads look good. Despite knowing who’s right or wrong, you still can’t connect with any of the characters. Most of them die without even knowing who they are.

One scene after another, the pacing is off. Prioritizing style over substance, the movie focuses on gimmicks to make the scenes look edgy and cool.

Whatever they’re fighting for, the weak script and messy direction turned it a lost cause and battle.
