Directed by: Naoto Amazutsumi

As you sit down in theaters and watch this concert movie experience, the first few seconds of it already build anticipation for what’s about to come.

There are a few one-liner quotes, acting as teasers. One even mentions his leg that can’t be moved. This detail eventually pays off later, revealing its full context. Brief excerpts are being quickly shown. The musical score pumps up your adrenaline.

The concert officially begins with an AVP explaining why it’s entitled 𝘋𝘦𝘵𝘰𝘹. It runs a bit long, but it explains their album’s theme and what the concert aims to convey.

From the first song alone, the lead singer is already at a hundred percent. Dark shadows surrounding his eyes are complementing his strong vocals and high energy.

In contrast, the other band members always appear relaxed as they play their instruments. It feels like they are in their own world, having limited interactions with one another and with the audience.

Transitions between performances lack creativity, often relying on fade-to-black effects or none at all. Switching of shots is rushed, flashing by in split seconds. You’re barely given time to take in what you’re seeing.

At times, the camera is able to capture certain body movements right on cue. But mostly, it fails to match the timing of the drum hits and the guitar riffs as the song calls for them. Thankfully, each band member gets a dedicated instrumental spotlight, which they all deserve.

The stage design is underwhelming. The venue is big, but it’s underutilized. Even though the background LED is functional, it does little to highlight key moments in the songs. When a party atmosphere is needed, it never appears. When explosive props would be welcome, they never arrive.

Audience’s point of view is rarely seen. Their reactions are also limited and randomly inserted. The crowd sounds quieter in the edit, which weakens the concert atmosphere. Despite their potential, the LED wristbands are rarely used and integrated to the show.

Each production number lacks a defining element to make it unique. Program flow runs in a plateau state. The concert starts with a defined concept, but it loses direction along the way.

With or without the production, it wouldn’t make a big difference—because the band alone is heavily carrying the show. From the vocals to the instruments to the songs themselves, they’re enough to bring the concert to life.

The lead singer’s energy never fades. He may come across as invincible, but there are special moments in the concert when he expresses vulnerability, showing everyone he’s also a human being. His eyes, once defined by dark makeup, now look soft and teary.

There’s sincerity in the way he speaks and in his choice of words. It’s not all the time he shares a story before a number, but when he does, it makes the performance more meaningful and emotional.

What truly stands out is how, even when he is just sitting, his spirit remains standing. Even when he is lying on the floor, his vocals continue to soar. Fireworks in the sky make it more beautiful.

The songs may sound aggressive, but they carry gentle feelings. The band’s care for people and their view of the world resonate in the songs. The subtitles make it easier to shout out the lyrics without hesitation.

Sing along. Be present. Enjoy the concert.

Tomorrow, we have battles to face. But don’t forget today—when we’re 𝐨𝐤. Together as 𝐨𝐧𝐞, we 𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐤 out with all our hearts to the music of 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘖𝘒 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬.
