Pagdaong (CineSilip 2025)
Directed by: Pongs Leonardo

The main leads of the film are all Vivamax artists. In this instance, these actresses will be remembered not for their sex scenes, but for the characters they’ve portrayed.
Angela Morena didn’t let go of her character, consistently channeling the writer-teacher persona. Astrid Lee naturally acts like a curious naughty kid which fits the role.
Ashley Lopez isn’t convincing at first. It takes a while for her to fuel up. Her performance gains momentum as soon as she taps into her emotions, making her scenes at the latter part moving.
As you listen to the dialogues, they send an instant message. There’s a thin line between critiquing the art and judging the artist. Interpretation for the art may change as you get to know the artist. The musical scoring helps a lot in relaying certain moods.
However, the abundant usage of poems can get overwhelming. Actual conversations are overshadowed by narrations. Instead of supporting the scenes, the words tend to take over.
Sensitive events are poorly presented. The mistakes of the characters are downplayed. Certain plot points forcibly happen to formulate a dramatic ending.
The film is not smooth sailing, yet it is continuously flowing. There might be rough edges, but they arrive at their destination. As the story sets sail, you’ll see it as a portrayal of three women defining love in their own ways.
