PREDATOR: BADLANDS

Predator: Badlands (2025)

Directed by: Dan Trachtenberg

Not bad at all. From being boring and alienating, the movie transforms into something engaging.

With the abundance of close up shots, you can see how grotesque the creatures are. Yuck, eww, and gross are the first few words you can think of. They all look evil and someone you can’t be friends with.

But its unsettling nature grows with you. Since the characters are limited, they are given time to show what they’re capable of. You get to appreciate their worth, unexpectedly rooting for them to win.

Beneath the gross appearances lie some humane characteristics and cool weapons, which they manage to highlight.

Even without knowledge on previous installments, this movie can stand on its own. The storyline is basic and easy to follow. There are moments that could’ve been more powerful and dramatic, but they tend to hold back in showing emotions.

Some fight scenes are too abrupt and dim, making it hard to fully enjoy them. Nonetheless, it keeps you wanting for more action. The ending sets the mood right for what’s to come.

For building a badass world, this new era of predators is something to watch out for.
