Republika ng Pipolipinas (Cinemalaya 2025)
Written & Directed by: Renei Dimla

A mockumentary about a micronation named Pipolipinas and its self-proclaimed president. Most of the time, the lead character is not convincing. Therefore, everything she’s fighting for feels undeserving of support.
She has no concrete plans for her own nation. She doesn’t know how to protect her citizens. However, at the very least, she is kind and she is not corrupt. There’s a sense of complacency and mediocrity for trying to be content with something that doesn’t quite measure up.
Mocking the nation, this film lacks the right blend of fun and seriousness.
This film works best whenever the line between mockery and reality gets thinner. With the level of absurdity happening around us, our solution is just to laugh the problems away.
By the end, it doesn't matter if it’s funny or not. What matters is the yearning to move past this situation, where we deserve to be taken seriously and not to be laughed at.
The film somehow offers a glimpse of it, but not enough to rally and fight for 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘢 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘪𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘴.
