Speed Demon (2026)
Directed by: Jon Keeyes

The plot involves a faithless nun who must perform her first exorcism aboard a speed train. A lot of protocols are bound to be broken.
Marketed as a horror thriller, šš±š¦š¦š„ šš¦š®š°šÆ is nowhere near that. The makeup looks like a prank. The visual effects arenāt believable. The demon resembles a zombie from a pirated Michael Jackson Thriller music video.
How can something be unserious, hilarious, and adventurous at the same time?
Ā While itās hard to take the movie seriously, it offers a lot of other things that will keep you surprised and onboard.
As the train literally keeps moving, so does the adventure inside it. Whenever youāre about to let go, the movie speeds in with another gimmick.
The lead actress pulls off a performance worthy to be taken seriously. Katie Cassidy has striking facial features and expressions that work well on screen and for the story.
Her role as an āalcoholicā nun and her sanity drive the narrative forward. In fact, thereās a scene where she encourages everyone to drink wine for safety. She is unapologetic and resourceful.
Ā
Other characters include a snatcher, self-declared asshole, sheltered kid, feisty girlfriend, and weak-hearted boyfriend. Even if their arcs arenāt deeply explored, their desire for change is evident. They all seek for growth and redemption.
The visuals may not suit the big-screen experience, but the story is really something else.
Thereās untapped comedy waiting to be unleashed. Some actions and moments come off as unintentionally campy, like when ššÆš“šŖš„šŖš°š¶š“ meets š-šš¦šÆ. Some lines can be witty, like when the priest links possession with alcoholism.
Surrounded by religious beliefs and rituals, the movie finds unconventional ways to break tradition and challenge them. The ending delivers an exciting payoff that feels bigger than its initial plot.
Fasten your seatbelt for the twists and turns that šš±š¦š¦š„ šš¦š®š°šÆ is about to derail into.
