Stranger Things
Written & Directed by: Duffer Brothers

How do you break up with someone
who’s been with you for almost 10 years?
As they always say, all good things must come to an end. That’s the bittersweet feeling while watching the finale episode.
It’s not just about looking at the series’ plotholes and wormholes anymore. It’s about dealing with a possible hole in our lives as they leave us.
From season 1, we’ve become self-proclaimed members of the Hellfire club. From understanding their jargon to fighting demogorgons, we’ve built a relationship with them. The intervals between seasons and episodes can be exhausting, but it takes patience and energy to stick with them until the end.
There are a lot of delaying tactics. They keep circling around before the final battle. Long pep talks here and there, losing the sense of urgency to the situation. But looking back at the past decade, they’ve given a lot of moments for us to cherish.
As seasons pass by, we watch the characters literally grow. We, too, have grown to be better people—learning from their experiences. From dealing with heartaches to accepting oneself, different forms of relationships are seen.
Inclusivity, being shown on a platform with a wide reach, speaks volumes about the series. Beyond action and adventure, the power of representation is valued. Everyone plays an important role in making society feel safe and warm.
This series has defined a generation. Both teens and adults can get to enjoy it and see things in their own unique ways. Iconic songs are attached to certain characters. Flashbacks make us relive memories, not only of what the show has become, but also of the years we’ve spent watching it.
Trying to detach ourselves and move on, we realize that there’s no need for a breakup. Bonds can still be retained if efforts are made.
We don’t have to be a stranger at all. These things they’ve imparted will always be a part of us.
To 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴:
Thank you for opening a portal
and letting us enter a world
we can treasure from here on.
