When special things seem like they’re about to end, you cling to whatever hope you have to make them last longer. No matter how surreal it may be, you wish for it to be real.

The film feels very personal to the writer-director, showing the things he values in life. Amid the presence of predators, there’s still a pinch of love. Despite the life-threatening danger, there are heartbreaking moments. The music manages to bring out emotions.

The adventure that the family has gone through isn’t as exciting as it looks. Once you have a picture of their situation at the beginning, you might already know how it’s gonna end.

There’s fun in running, but it doesn’t go as far. The creatures serve only as background noise and distractions. Regardless of what kind of reptile appears, it doesn’t matter. The sci-fi element is underutilized in unraveling the mystery.

Other characters lack purpose, adding little contribution to the story. Neighbors, who initially have bearing, turn out to be useless along the way. Some decisions are quite alarming, putting the lead’s values into question.

There are eye-catching shots, but the conversations surrounding them aren’t as engaging.

The lead stars are convincing as a family. They are naturally codependent on each other. When they try to reminisce, even though there are no accompanying scenes, you can feel their longing.

When it feels like there’s no way out, the script finds one, even if it isn’t entirely plausible. When things fall apart, the characters find a way to mend them, even at the expense of others.

The ending brings mixed emotions, leaving you unsure whether to be happy for them, cynical about their methods, or content that it’s finally over. Either way, the street is barely filled with steps worth looking back on.
