UNDER A PIAYA MOON

Under A Piaya Moon (PCPFF 2024)

Directed by: Kurt Soberano

Two lovers talk under the moon

which looks like a Piaya.

The technical elements of this film didn’t disappoint. The editing, musical scoring, and sound design are in sync. The visuals are pretty. The production design did justice to the 1988 and bakery setting.

The conscious effort to promote local ingredients and delicacies is greatly appreciated. The casting of local actors that naturally speak their dialect is truly notable.

Move on sila kaagad kahit hindi pa dapat.

The movie has assorted messages, and they aren’t mixed evenly. Most of the time, the characters contradict each other or even themselves. In the end, no message stood out.

Gaya ng buwan,

ang pelikulang ito ay magandang tingnan.

Pero kapag kinagat mo na,

hindi pala siya kasing-sarap ng Piaya.
