WICKED: FOR GOOD

Wicked: For Good (2025)

Part 1 ends on a high note, so Part 2 tries to keep the momentum going. However, it’s being stretched for too long. Production numbers are continuously happening. Most songs rarely have a build up. They come and go without strong recall.

The pacing didn’t slow down. It becomes relentless and exhausting for a while, with no breather to process the situation.

In quiet moments, that’s when the film shines. As noise from the surrounding fades, the focus rekindles toward the main characters.

There’s a yearning to see them reunite. The film capitalizes on it by adding sidequests that seem endless. The longer you wait, the deeper the yearning. But when the right time finally arrives, it’s totally worth the wait.

The much-anticipated “For Good” performance is a rewarding experience. Full emotions are on display. Every second becomes monumental, bringing tears to your eyes. All it takes is just one special moment, and suddenly you’re back to why the film hits you hard. You get reminded what kind of relationship Glinda and Elphaba have.

Ariana Grande handles her fragile character with care. Through her nuanced portrayal, you are able to see the layers of her character. Her voice pierces through the heart. Cynthia Erivo embodies the role, leaving a strong presence. Even when she’s not on screen, you can still feel her. Their friendship, firmly established before, carries over in this sequel.

The film comes full circle, concluding by going back to the beginning. The scene seems identical, but it hits differently now. Looking back at their journey, the words carry more weight. Even with no flashbacks, you can recall what they’ve been through. Memories stick with you for good.

For comparison, the first movie is better with its powerful finale that defies gravity. Nonetheless, this sequel delivers a heartwarming culmination of the story. Overall, 𝘞𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘥 undeniably serves performances that are more than good.
