YOLO

YOLO (2024)

Directed by: Jia Ling

An aspiring boxer keeps on missing her punches in life. When all things fail, where do you find the courage to live?

Inspirational is such an understatement to describe this film. This is life-changing.

Bubugbugin ka ng mga pagsubok. Papaiyakin ka ng mga tagumpay. Matindi ang dalang suntok. Malakas ang tama. Ilang beses kang madarapa. Pero tatayo kang kasama ang pelikulang ito. Hindi ka nag-iisa.

This film lets you experience losing for you to appreciate the winning. The plottwists are suffocating and disheartening, but the ending is the complete opposite.

It may be hard to follow a main character that keeps on failing, but just be patient. The best two hours of your life is about to come. A once-in-a-lifetime movie experience that you’ll forever cherish. Even the end credits has its own empowering message.

Lead actress Jia Ling is also the director and writer of this film. Her life and this film are merged into one. Knowing that everything you see is real amplified its significance. Walang makakasira sa katotohanan, at yun ang naging pangunahing pundasyon ng pelikulang ito.

More than its beauty, the shots are also meaningful. The cinematography depicts the character’s journey in a thought-provoking way. The building shows its many floors—with each level elevating the hardships in life. The doors serve as opening to a new life. The mirror reflects one’s old self.

Will your old self be proud of what you’ve become?

You only live once. Make it worthwhile.

This film is worth your while. 𝘠𝘖𝘓𝘖 motivates you to be the best version of yourself—and it’s the best thing that a film can offer.

Don’t miss the full-blown punch this film has to offer because it’s a total knockout.
