Regine is really good as Shirley.

But it’s hard to watch a good actress being surrounded by bad elements of script, direction, editing and scoring.

Everything was dry. Ang haba-haba ng mga usapan na akala mo may katuturan, pero wala namang pinupuntahan. Andaming punchlines na akala nila nakakatawa, pero ang corny naman. Saan ba nila pinagkukuha yun.

Yung editing, parang minadali or tinamad. Pinagdugtong-dugtong lang ang mga eksena, without even looking at the details.

Hiyang-hiya naman si Regine sa mga music na tinatapal nyo sa mga eksena ah. Either hindi akma or nonstop replay sa buong movie. Imagine a lousy scoring while the music legend is on screen. Yikes.

Also, this matinee idol character in the movie being portrayed by actor Rayt Carreon... Patay na patay ang mga fans sa kanya sa movie nato. Pero patay na patay din po syang umarte. Wala ka-buhay buhay. How are we suppose to believe this fantasy world they are creating, when it’s not at all ideal?

Whatever mockery they are making. It felt like a disrespect to the industry because of their poor execution. The story‘s message has a heart. But sadly, hindi nila na-kwento nang maganda.

Hindi kayang isalba ng galing ni Regine Velasquez ang kapangitan ng pelikulang ito.

The Songbird deserves more than this.
