MMFF 2019

RANKING FOR MMFF 2019 MOVIES:

1. WRITE ABOUT LOVE (Crisanto Aquino)

Most beautiful script ever written this year. Executed with passion, creativity and love. Ramdam mong ginawa ang pelikula hindi para kumita. Kundi para magbahagi ng karanasan at ng pakiramdam. Punong puno ng pagmamahal ang buong pelikula. When you do things out of love, you can never go wrong. Everything about this movie feels so right. Read full here.

2. MIRACLE IN CELL NO. 7 (Nuel Naval)

This is not a perfect film in terms of details. But it is perfect in terms of emotions. Whatever awards this film may receive. I just want the whole team to know — You already won by a mile by touching the hearts of the Filipino family. Read full here.

3. MISSION UNSTAPABOL: THE DON IDENTITY (Michael Tuviera)

All the impossibilities turned into opportunities to make the people laugh. Tadtad ng plotholes ang pelikula. Pero sa mga butas na yun, naipasok nila ang mga punchlines na nakakatawa. Read full here.

4. SUNOD (Carlo Ledesma)

The beautiful cinematography took over the entire film. Until now, it still haunts me. Pero gaano man kaganda ang mga shots. Hindi nila maitatago ang kapangitan ng istorya. Read full here.

5. MINDANAO (Brillante Mendoza)

Focuses too much on feeding the brain, and not through the heart. Seeing this movie is like watching a docu-special. National Geographic presents Mindanao, with special dramatic performance by Judy Ann Santos. Read full here.

6. THE MALL, THE MERRIER (Barry Gonzalez)

Wag nang magpapa tumpik tumpik pa. Boom Panget po ang pelikula. Ginawa nilang comedy bar ang sinehan. Tapos naging side trip na lang ang kwento. Read full here.

7. CULION (Alvin Yapan)

Has a story and history to tell. Pero hindi sya naikwento nang maayos. Few memorable scenes, but forgettable as a whole. Read full here.

8. 3POL TROBOL: HULI KA BALBON (Rodel Nacianceno)

This movie doesn’t deserve to be made. This movie is nothing. Period. Read full here.

I agree with the Top 3. Mission Unstapabol is surprisingly good especially after years of flop movies from VS.
